Is the surviving spouse obligated to pay deceased's debts in Texas?

In Texas do personal debts, judgements, leases and leans transfer to a survivng spouse?Is the surviving spouse obligated to pay deceased's debts in Texas?
No,but the estate (assets left behind) of the deceased spouse may have to pay the debt. If there essentially is no estate, then mail a copy of the death certificate to the debtors and they are out of luck.





Now if both spouses were on the debt (like most mortgages are done) then yes the surviving spouse is still resposible.
