Is race preference in choosing a spouse, conditioned?

for example, if i prefer to date a certain race over another, because i find that race more physically attractive, was i conditioned by the media to like them more? or was i born with that preference? Is race preference in choosing a spouse, conditioned?
ummm...im pretty sure not any of those...you dont hate the others..you just like these people more...it would be something else if you were to say..i hate people of the race..you know??..so yeah..i mean everyone does that..they prefer some races over others..because thats who they can relate to..or have things in common with and stuff like thatIs race preference in choosing a spouse, conditioned?
i guess it depends on how influential you are. if you get influenced easily by the media or parents or friends or whatever then yeah, but if you are self dependent and think for yourself for the most part of the time then its from your natural preference.
Total and complete social psych question...its called attraction and it is a social construct; meaning that it is in large part inherited and developed through out ones life in a given civilization. It also has quite a bit to do with similarities between you and those you are attracted to. Human beings are visual creatures and therefore eyes, cheek bones, lips, ears, jaw structure, skin color etc...also play a big part; and while answers vary; the physically attractive features will differ from person to person. Sure the media plays a part in your preferences, but so many other medium take precedence over just the TV and Magazine forms of media. People who influence you through out your life, you own mother or father depending on your sex (sounds gross, but many individuals that come from ';healthy'; environments will seek out familiar features in others that their parents may have/had.). Many researchers tend to lean toward the idea that certain features such as Jaw structure, eyes, skin tones, and even a persons common facial expression hint to fertility and good health; which in turn hints towards that subtle desire if it exists to procreate and continue your species/blood line/preserve your self...or something along those lines. The oldest one being, good child bearing hip structure. Or ';nice ***'; if you're a layman. It's not the race; its skin tones that you are after...some prefer ghost white, some prefer golden brown, some prefer dark, blah blah blah...you got the point?
There ain't any media that can tell my penis what he likes and doesn't like.
Who knows. I find my own race the least attractive physically.
You weren't born with that preference. It's just they way you are and there's nothing wrong with it.
You can't help who you fall in love with. Of course, some people believe in sticking to their own race. But, you can't help who you fall in love with. It could be the someone from another race.

Have a good night.
You weren't born with it but it isn't for sure the media's fault. When we are born our brains have no preference for one race or another. Mostly it's you who influence yourself. But the race of the people you hang around with could affect your racial preference.
I prefer Filipinas. No reason, except they're the best.

If God has a Filipina wife, I'll not be surprised.

.
I would say that it depends upon the individual. For me, it did not make any difference as to race, skin color, whathave you. I wanted to marry a gal who was old-fashioned with old-time morals.

I did marry a Filipina... but to me, color/race had nothing to do with it.
It's a matter of personal preference and no one can make that choice but you. While some people love vanilla ice cream others would rather have chocolate but a few prefere everything in between. The world is full of delicious flavors (of races) and they're all great in their own special way so take your pick and may you and your beloved live ';happily ever after';! It really doesn't matter why you have a preference for one race over another - that's your business.

Personally, I believe that whenever two people meet, fall in love and get married it is always a beautiful blessing!
I am Caucasian and I prefer Caucasian men. I do not know why that is because not all members of my family are married to Caucasians. That is why I know I was not conditioned this way. I believe for me it is because I just prefer someone who is similar to me, whether or not they are blonde and blue eyes as well.

That is not to say that I am not attracted to other races. I just chose to have a man of my own race for my husband.
Probably a bit of both.
what ever floats your boat
no, if that was so there would never of been interracial couples before TV. it is love what more need be said.
I doubt we are born with prejudices, but more likely we prefer people we are similar to. As we seek out other people to identify with, our experiences probably impact the way we feel about both similar and different people.

If one is born into a family of idiots, but that person has the capacity to think independently, that person may grow up thinking all people with a certain characteristic, race, religion etc鈥?are idiots and therefore be attracted to something different.

Another factor that does come into play is when a family is cohesive and belonging perpetuated the financial stability of that family. Attraction is often limited to people who will fit into that family. If there is no reason to rebel and your parents are good people too, selecting someone who likes your parents may be very important to a person.
I believe you were just born with it for instance... i think that hispanics are exceptionaly attractive and i know many people who think that other races are attractive.
well you cant look at a person by the color of their skin but for their personality. or your just a very races person.never look at someone and think that they wouldn't be good for you. you never know. take a chance.
